This morning I noticed that my yahoo mail account had sent an email to all my contacts. I changed my password and reset my security questions. Is it safe now?

Also, after reading online, I'm wonder what exactly happened:
Was my email hacked? OR
Did someone use a "side script" to use my email address? OR
Was my computer hacked into?

If anyone can clarify which probably happened and how to prevent any future attempts, that'd be great. I really hope my computer hasn't been hacked. I'm very safe and I never open spam mail or anything, so I don't even know how this happened. I noticed this only happened after I started using Microsoft Outlook to read my email. Any help will be appreciated. If you need to know more info, please ask and I'll add it. Thanks in advance!
Also if it helps, when I go to my sent messages, that SPAM email is not there.
Oh and I always have Malwarebytes, Avast, and Ad-aware running at all times. I never use public computers. And I use Chrome with Ad-Block and WOT. Is there any other software I should be using to protect my computer? And worst case scenario, could someone have gotten in by key logging? I don't understand how someone could've hacked my computer. I always take precautions and have never had any problems like this until now. I'm kind of freaking out since something like this has never happened to me before and I really hope my computer isn't what's affected.
Just completed a full scan using Malwarebytes, Avast, and Ad-aware - all of which come back with 0 infected files. Could it be something that none of those 3 detected? If not, then how did my email get hacked, send an email, and leave no trace??

Answer
Yes it is possible that your computer got hacked. It is also possible that you have a spyware infection. Scan your computer with this:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

See if it finds something. If it did, change your password again. It may have been compromised by the spyware.

I hope you also have a decent antivirus.

In addition, stop using public proxy servers if you were in the recent past. That's usually how people get hacked.
i know where to look for the system info but are there other commands in finding about ur computer or system info on the run program.

Answer
There are many ways to find out info about your computer. Here are some, in order of difficulty (and complexity of information given):

- Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. The "System Properties" menu will pop up, giving you info on the speed, amount of memory, name of computer, installed hardware, and internet connection.

- From the "System Properties" menu, browse through the menu until you find a button that says "Device Manager." Click this button and you will be able to browse through a tree chart that lists all the hardware components of your computer.

- Bring up the "Run" dialogue box by selecting it from the Start Menu or pressing WINKEY + R. Type in gpedit.msc and press Enter. A box will come up with a tree-type navigation pane in the corner and a window that will allow you to browse through or set many of the more advanced software components of the computer.

Good luck!

NEED HELP ON COMPUTER!!?

You can try to look at the various events (double-click on one for more details) and see if it's telling you about any problems.

You might also try right-clicking on My Computer, selecting Properties, then click on Advanced, Startup & Recover, and un-checking "Automatically Restart" under "System Failure". This will let you see error message if Windows crashes.

If none of that helps, then maybe you have a hardware problem. You can get a program called memtest86 to test out your memory. Program analysis (testing, debugging, understanding/modifying existing code, inheritance, error handling, program reasoning, algorithm analysis, numerical representations)
4. This loads the definitions. Click block pages silently also..Then go to www. lavasoft.com and look for AD-Aware SE personal edition..Download it and then update it... These programs are all free..Then run all three programs.
Then put protection on the new computer BEFORE you put any files from the old computer in there. Mac software (programs, and files) are different then Vista ones.

They aren't compatible by themselves. Now they probably can be converted.

Answer
It sounds like your system is infected with some kind of ad-ware or spy-ware. Run a thorough security scan of your system to see if you can get rid of it. The Yahoo toolbar comes with free anti-spyware tools. Also, Windows defender is free; go to windows updates and look for the microsoft free downloads.

After doing this then you go to Control panel.... Internet options ... delete the URL address of the site you don't want and type in your regular homepage address.

And while you are at it, do the following to thoroughly clean up your machine.

HOW TO DO A THOROUGH CLEAN UP:
Before doing any of the maintenance steps outlined below make sure that your system is free from viruses and/or of any other undesirable Internet bugs, by running a thorough security scan of your machine.
Now, do the following as needed:
âIâ (FOR WINDOWS XP-IE6)
While you are connected to the Internet do the following:
1. Click on tools ... Internet options. There you will see three buttons next to each other... âDelete Cookiesâ ... âDelete Filesâ and âSettings.â Also, below the settings button you will see another one âClear history.â
2. Click on âsettingsâ - go to âEditâ - Click on âselect allâ - Go to files, click delete and wait till all Internet trash files are gone.
3. Go back and click on âdelete cookiesâ and wait till all cookies are gone
4. Go back and click on âDelete files,â put a check mark on the little white square shown on the small window that will open, click OK and wait for a little.
5. Go back and click on âClear historyâ, click âyesâ and you are done. Go to item âIIIâ now.
ADDITIONAL INFO.: Here is how to clean website addresses from you IE6 browser bar: While you are connected to Internet, go to âToolsâ ⦠âInternet Options,â âContentâ tab ⦠âAuto Complete buttonâ ⦠click on âclear formsâ and you are finished.

âIIâ (FOR WINDOWS XP-IE7):
Go to Start ⦠Control Panel ⦠Internet Options. Under âBrowsing historyâ click âDeleteâ and then click âDelete all,â put a check mark in the little white square and then click âYesâ and you are done. Go to Item âIIIâ now.

âIIIâ (FOR BOTH WIN-IE6 AND WIN-IE7)
1. Do a check disk and a defrag, then restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved. It is assumed that you know how to do a check disc and disc difragmentation.
2. If the above steps donât do the job, here is a little program that keeps your machine in shape and free from Windows micro-problems that lead to slowness and crashes:
Get on the web and go to http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/site; download the free trial program, familiarize your self with it and use it to clean up your registry automatically along with a sort of other helpful and useful maintenance chores. It is an excellent little program and does wonders with PC maintenance tasks and I strongly recommend it! It works on the background on its own automatically.
3. After you are through with the above maintenance steps, go to Microsoft/Windows updates and download any and all available and/or applicable updates.
Hope this helps!
NDS

Powered by Yahoo!

Answer
I was wondering whether your computer has had a maintenance for a long time.If it hasn't, check the internal components.By the way, are you a computer enthusiast? If not, better have somebody who knows. If the components have accumulated dust (graphic card, hard disc, motherboard and even the CPU (processor), things can go wrong. My worst experience was that I have to reboot several times and the computer won't even finish BIOS display.Done all the tech stuff only to find out a handful of dust accumulating at the back of the motherboard. After dust spraying with compressed air...whoola! everything was back to normal. It might not the the straight answer, but oftentimes, simple things are the first step before getting on to complicated ones.Good luck!

Powered by Yahoo!

Answer
I'm not sure if this will help at all.... I just took my NREMT for EMT -B. I was stopped at 70 questions and passed but a friend of mine stopped at 70 and failed. The NREMT uses Computer Adaptive Testing that starts you out a low level of competency on your first question. If you get that question right, then it moves on to a harder question and you move up a level of competency. If you get it wrong they ask you another easier question and so on and so forth. I believe that that they have a minimum of 70 questions they ask you. If your still at the low level of competency and show no signs of improving they stop you. If you have already passed the needed level, they stop you. But if your teetering and are working your way up the levels and have a chance a passing they keep asking you questions. The most questions I've heard that someone had been asked is like 150. So its not like there is a certain amount of questions and percentages, its all very high tech.

Answer
I agree with the first guy... This class is seems to be designed for people that may use a computer at home for fun (like you), but have never used it in a business setting.

They will teach you some basic skills such as using microsoft word, excel, and outlook. They will probably not go too deeply into any of these programs.

I recommend this class highly if you want to eventually work in an office environment.
whats the better degree to gain?

also how much math does computer science really involve?

Answer
The thing I always tell people interested in Computer Science is that they need to discover not if computer science is a good major for them but if they are the right person for computer science. Programmers are born and not made. All the computer programming courses in the world will not make you any good at it if it is not your gifting and calling. Many eager CS majors take their first few programming courses and realize that this is not what they expected while others just take to it like a duck to water. If you find yourself struggling you can always switch majors into Info Sys or another IT area that does not require programming. Remember that at most 4 year schools you can change majors out to the end of your second year with very few credits or time lost. Being able to do well at CS has nothing to do with intelligence. Many of the people I know that were not successful in Programming are very successful in other fields.

Generally if you have not done well at math you will have a more difficult time in CS. Part of it is logic and part of it is math. Here are some eaxamples of programming projects that would directly involve math.

One of my friends worked on a team that wrote the code long ago that enabled military airplanes to land on an aircraft carrier automatically if the pilot was injured and could not land the plane manually. You can imagine the complexity that would take into account all the variables of speed and elevation and wind and give the plane's systems input moment by moment to land itself safely on the pitching deck of an aircraft carrier. On the simpler side of things I also know the developer who wrote the code for a large auto oil change chain. When you went in they would change your oil and filter, charge your credit card and track all your information like the kind of oil you requested and when to send you a reminder card. At night the system would determine any oil and air filters that they needed to reorder and call that information into the central warehouse and a shipment would be organized with all the filters that they were running low on. His code handled all those transactions at many locations. So this would give you some ideas of what kinds of projects a programmer would do.

Many people who set out to get Computer Science degrees find out they hate programming or have no gifting for it. They will usually switch into a different IT degree area like Computer Information Systems (CIS).

Here is a short list of some non-programming IT jobs:

Computer Technician
Service Center Coordinator
Help Desk Staff
Storage Administrator.
Network Administrator
Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer
Enterprise Administrator
Backup Administrator
Disaster Recovery Specialist
Database Administrator
Computing Security Specialist
Corporate IT Acquisition
Data Center Administrator

I was just wondering what type of job can you get with an asociate's degree in computer information systems?

I am currently studying computer science, I am a junior. But I realized that being a software developer isn't really working for me. So I was thinking of taking the path to become a computer and information systems manager. So what exactly should I do now?

Answer
There are three basic computer degrees that 4 year schools are offering.
1. Computer Science - This sounds like what you have been studying and have decided you don't like.
2. Computer Information Systems - this would include other majors with similar names like Info Sys. These jobs are technical jobs in computer administration, networking, computing security, etc.
3. Management of Information Systems - this degree is really not a computer technical degree but a business degree that gives you business skills to manage other people in IT.

If you are in computer science and want to bail out of that but still do technical computer work you want to go with the Computer Information Systems (CIS) route. You should be able to shift over most of your credits without too much drame or expense.

The Management of Information Systems (MIS) degree is one that I have seen more recently and the general impression I get is that this degree does not have the value of the other two. It has almost no technical IT courses in the course listing. I have been told that the reason schools are offering this degree is that managment principles changes very seldom. This means that they can use the same courses, instructors, books, class outlines, etc in this major. In a technology degree there are always new languages, new operating systems and new terminology which makes it hard for a school to keep up. So I would not say that it is a worthless degree but I'm interested in technology and not just managing people.

With a CIS degree you could do:
Computer Technician, Service Center Coordinator, Help Desk Staff, Storage Administrator, Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, Enterprise Administrator, Active Directory Administrator, Exchange and Messaging Administrator, Backup Administrator, Disaster Recovery Specialist, Database Administrator, Computing Security Specialist, Corporate IT Acquisition Specialist and Data Center Administrator, just to name a few.

Best Wishes!

Powered by Yahoo!
hi, my profesor assigned us a homework that involves getting information about people with the similar majors, and see what job they have, and what do they do in that job.

Answer
If you have a bachelor's degree in science, you can work in many different fields with computers and information technologies. When deciding on a job that suits you, consider what is involved in each area as well salary and possibilities for career advancement.

Information Technlogy Manager

IT managers oversee the entire IT department.
An information technology, or IT, manager oversees several areas of a company's technology and computer departments. This includes telephones, internal computer and security systems as well as purchasing of hardware and software. An IT manager must ensure that purchases and orders are done to budget and that the IT department uses systems to best serve the productivity of the business. They usually have a team of computer technicians under them. This is a top-level management position, and so the compensation is high. Depending on the company size, you can make on average up to $100,000 a year as of 2011; pay starts around $50,000 a year for smaller companies as of 2011.

Information Technology Specialist

IT specialists design websites among other things.
An IT specialist works in a number of fields, usually with a focus on Internet applications and company websites. Often they are in charge of designing the website as well as administrating it. This involves liaising with graphic designers and the management team. It also involves designing special applications that clients can use for ordering, emails and so on. As for administration, an IT specialist resolves software problems that occur with the website. IT specialists tend to work under somebody else such as the IT manager. Therefore, they have room for promotion and will often move into a management position. The average salary for IT specialists as of 2011 is $30,000 to $70,000 a year, often at the lower end for recent graduates.

Software Engineer

Software engineers are one of the highest paid positions in IT.
Software engineers or programmers develop stand-alone software for a range of tasks. For example they can create computer games, software for companies or programs for the general public to use for any number of tasks. Software engineers work in specialized companies or as freelancers. They can range from senior engineers to software researchers and even interns. Thus their pay varies widely. As of 2011, a senior software engineer can make more than $200,000 a year. An intern will make about $10,000 a month. Overall, salaries in this field are high.

IT Project Manager

As their title suggests, project managers organize specific programming tasks.
An information technology project manager oversees the scheduling of the department on specific projects. Managers also set monthly goals and tasks. They manage the team on these specific tasks to ensure everything is running to schedule. In turn, IT project managers also conduct analysis of new technologies and systems to see if they might benefit the company. They will produce reports for the company management for the introduction of these technologies. As of 2011, the average salary in this position is $90,000 a year. Project managers can move into higher management positions after they have been in the role for some time.

Read more: Jobs in Management Technology With a Bachelor's Degree in Science | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/info_7934626_jobs-technology-bachelors-degree-science.html#ixzz1Wcqq9py7

Powered by Yahoo!

Answer
John

There are many many reasons for a computer getting slow. The information you need to know is this:

Was it always slow? If yes - you probably need more memory.

Did it just start to get slow lately? Need to clean out the internet cache files or computer temp files.

How old it is? If it is more than 4 years old - you probably need a new one.

Are there any other weird symptons? Another problem could be zapping your resources.

How do you connect to the internet? If it's dial-up it will stay slow forever! Go to DSL or cable.

Is it just slow on the internet? Try to turn off graphical images while browsing - they eat up a lot of bandwith when surfing.

Was it slow just recently after visitng a number of sites? You could have a virus, or a bad case of mucho spyware eating up your bandwith.

OK -- these are just some of the things to look at. For 99% of the time, I have found that most people need to clean out their browser cache or computer temp files. These are always bad culprits that eat a lot of speed away from a computer. If this sounds like your issue, look for a freeware product called "Empty temp files." It does a wonder of a cleanup and should help you.

Hope this info helps you.

Powered by Yahoo!
Hello, I need to convert some VBA code to VB script code for the following project. I am using an Access 2003 Database with an HTML webpage and my goal is to pass values to the webpage to display the database "Search Results". The page doesn't have to be published, just run from my local computer. ANY help is appreciated!

Answer
For the most part, it boils down to removing variable types and using late binding.

For example:
Dim daoDBEngine As New DAO.DBEngine
Dim daoDB As DAO.Database
Set daoDB = daoDBEngine.OpenDatabase(MyAccessFile)

becomes:
Dim daoDBEngine
Dim daoDB
Set daoDBEngine = CreateObject("DAO.DBEngine")
Set daoDB = daoDBEngine.OpenDatabase(MyAccessFile)

And:
Dim sVal As String
Dim iVal As Integer

becomes:
Dim sVal
Dim iVal

You'll want to check your variables before using them (at least those that you allow a user to specify--always a good rule, anyway). There's no guarantee that what you think stores a number is actually a number. Functions like IsNull() and IsObject() and IsNumeric() all come in handy.

Many consider it important to use some form of Hungarian notation, so that the name of the variable tells you what data that variable will hold. (Strings begin with "str" or "s", Dates begin with "dt", Integers with "int" or "i", Long values with "lng" or "l"... There are guides out there, or make your own system that fits you well, or just forget about the whole concept. :) )

There are some changes in procedures and syntax, as well, but those are fairly minor. See the link below for more info on which language supports what.

I get the following error everytime I boot up: Microsoft VBScript runtime error. HijackThis helps If persistent spyware is bogging down your computer, you might need HijackThis. The tiny program examines vulnerable or suspect parts of your system, such as browser helper objects and certain types of Registry keys. Pressing the Scan button generates a log of dozens of items, most of which are just customizations. Don't check off an item and hit the Fix checked button unless you're sure it's malware. Clicking Info on selected item tells you why the entry was flagged as suspicious, but not whether it's actually malware. To find that out, search the Web for that item's name or go straight to a forum, such as SpywareInfo or Computer Cops. Saving the log creates a text document you can post to these forums.

The latest version adds powerful tools to the Config window. The process manager and hosts file editor help you excise virulent infections. The unique ADS Spy tool scans for alternate data streams, which some browser hijackers use to hide from spyware removers. The program still installs into whatever directory in which you unzip the file, which can make it hard to locate. HijackThis is a serious tool for any user who needs to root out a serious infestation, but wield it with caution. So, go to the site I gave you above, and they'll help you step by step.

Free registry cleaners:
CCleaner does not specialise in cleaning the registry, it's mostly used to speed up your computer by cleaning up your recycle bin, temp files/internet files, browsing history, application errors, log files and so on.. which frees up some space in your harddisk

I've tried these 10 free cleaners
http://www.regsofts.com/freeware/freereg...
I would recommend the following(click on the webpage and follow):

Free Windows Registry Repair(first one) - rather effective, the first scan i did after about a year showed over 500 problems with the registry, fixed them all

RegSeeker(2nd one) - fixed another 300 problems after using the previous one.

and like the two of them said, Eusing Free Registry Cleaner and Abexo Free Registry Cleaner(30 day trial)

Just run them all that'll fix most problems! But dont expect 100% fixes because programs might recreate registry entries when used and so a second scan might still show the same few errors. (ignore such errors)

those are all freeware, hope i'm of some help

Good Luck!

Powered by Yahoo! You enter your zip and it will help you find the facilities you are looking for.

Powered by Yahoo!
