My hp laptops hard drive broke from the computer falling on the ground. I have a toshiba that's less a few years older, and the hard drive cables in my hp fit into the toshibas old hard drive. If I boot the computer will the info on that hard drive appear or will it just be unrecognized? I don't want to turn it on in fear of something weird happening. Any thoughts?

Answer
Yes, the hard drive will be recognized (it is compatible) but Windows won't boot because it was installed and configured to work with the hardware of the old laptop the hard drive came from. If you have a Windows install disc and you don't mind that all the existing files and data on the hard drive will be deleted (the formatting process deletes everything on the selected partition), you will need to start up from the disc, delete the existing Windows (C:) partition, make a new C partition, format this partition and reinstall Windows on it (the Windows install disc will guide you through the process). That is basically all you need to do to get that hard drive working and bootable on your HP laptop.

Does anyone know how to delete an aol email account from the computer?

I had a problem and would like to have this taken off my computer? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
.
You can do this, but all will be lost, including your address book in that program.

If you'd like to try to hold onto the address book go to Start > Search > and type in *.wab... then you can "save" it to another folder. If that doesn't get it, search for "addresses".

To delete any email PROGRAM go to START > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > and after it "populates" click the progam you want to get rid of (example: AOL), and then click the REMOVE button.
THEN just to make sure you have all it's bits and pieces:
go to START > SEARCH > and type in the program name: AOL and then Find in: C (that's everything)...delete the instances still there.

If files are "shared", you'll get a little Info window ... it's wise to NOT delete shared files.

Also, sometimes, some programs have on the START menu a little side arrow, and in that SUB-menu is an UNinstall option, click that if it might still be there (but by this time I doubt it...all should be gone.

Realize, if you delete your ISP, you will need the disk, or tech help to get up and going again. It would be wise, in the case you are going to delete your ISP, to first get a new ISP, and get your new address out to everyone in that address book.
