I am unable to find info on to to store animations and then read them into memory for real time processing. How do video games store animations for complex meshes, with complex animation?
For extremely simple objects with moving parts, you can simply load each step of the animation like you would the frame of a movie clip, and then, you can display the correct animation for that time step.
But with massive polygon counts, and complex animations, this wouldn't make sense. I assume there are algorithms for handling this issue, but I can't find any with a simple google search.I just keep receiving general computer animation resources telling me how to translate a vert at a time. Can someone point to resources on this topic?
I understand that they somehow store general movements of parent limbs which transform the child verts, but I am unsure how to do this.

Answer
Stores use animations via uploading an animating video that attracts people to buy video games.

Good luck!

Where are the jobs located (in the USA) for computer graphics or animation majors?
