Get a custom made program for your vehicle thru Wheatley or Wait4me. Don't waste you $$$ on any handheld programmer. I had a Hypertec PPPIII programmer once and it was the biggest waste of 350. bucks I've ever done.
Also, check out the FSC site(below) w alot of c/k series chevy/GMC guys/gals w/ alot of info on the c/k series trucks.

How many years of college would I need, or can I go to a trade school? Whats the average salary? What are some basic skills I would need. thank you!

Programming usually requires a 4 year college degree in computer science, or 4 years work experience in the field you're working in. As for salary that's really dependent on what it is you'd actually be doing and what company you work for. But salary's tend to range between 45k-80k starting.
