CyberTAN uses Vitesse's router system-on-a-chip

CyberTAN, an original design manufacturer of broadband networking equipment, is using Vitesse Semiconductor's G-RocX Gigabit Router system-on-a-chip to deliver production-level EPON FTTH Residential Gateway.

Vitesse has said that its G-RocX Gigabit Router integrates a CPU with Gigabit Ethernet switch and voltage-mode PHY technology into a single chip.

Vitesse's G-RocX VSC7501 provides Gigabit LAN connectivity, including Gigabit Ethernet system performance and Quality of Service (QoS) technology, for Home Residential Gateways. This allows CyberTAN to develop its family of gateways that meet the carrier-class video, data and voice delivery requirements of the FTTH market.

Brian Jaroszewski, senior product marketing manager at Vitesse Semiconductor, said: "Service providers today are looking for ways to capture lucrative revenue opportunities from triple play services. Vitesse's highly integrated G-RocX host CPU architecture provides our ODM customers with a feature-rich, cost-optimized solution that meets Carrier residential gateway needs."
