i just bought a new computer (it has windows 7) my old one has Windows XP ...is it possible to network them together so I can pull up files on each of them...(my printer is only hooked up on the one in my office and I need to print files from my new computer) So can I save a file and open it on the computer with the printer to print it? HOW do I sync them up together to do this or as it is called "network" ? Thanx :)
Answer
Considering you're requirements get a cross cable and configure the ip address in the new computer like if you're old one has ip of 192.168.10.1,the new computer should be configured as 192.168.10.2 that mean both computers are on same network and they are ready to communicate, now that you're done with this part, try pinging them, create a new folder put all documents which you want to print in that folder so that you can synchronize it from old computer to print.

How can I find out what internet connection method is used on my computer?
Mark
I have Comcast, ya I know it sucks. But still, I'm trying to install a wireless router and it's asking for me to "select the internet connection method used by your Internet Service Provider." Is there somewhere on the computer where I can find this out? And other info such as static IP address if it is indeed a static ip address.
Thanks!!
Answer
What MAKE && MODEL of wireless router?
=
Does the router give choices: Obtain IP address automatically, Static IP, PPoE.,....
- IF so, choose Obtain IP address automatically.
- Usually, the first choice is the most common.
