I will be getting rid of my computer and getting a laptop finally. How do I get rid of everything on my old computer. I am donating it and I don't want any of my personal stuff left there.

use disk clean-up for the temporary files then delete your browser history by tools>internet options>clear history.
for your other files, you can easily do that (ctrl+a then delete then empty recycle bin).
an easy way is to TOTALY reformat your hard drive. it erases everything.
however, after doing all the delete stuff, defragment your hard drive (start>programs>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter).
why?
because windows works like this: your hard drive has "clusters". everytime you create/save a file, clusters get filled with its information. now, imagine your hard drive's clusters as a white grid, one square for each cluster. when a cluster gets filled with information, it gets painted with black. when you delete the info, what windows does is just to paint over the black paint with white paint (to indicate that it is "free"). now, some crafty techies can scrape off the white paint to reveal what info was previously stored there. defragmenting helps you prevent that.
