research? I'm thinking of the big picture kinds of changes that this theory made and the smaller day-to-day benefits that humanity enjoys because of Darwin's theory. This is for a unit I'm preparing for "Darwin Day" in Feb.

Everyone will say medicine and environmental science. So I'll offer something different: In engineering, there is an entire field of natural selection engineering. You tell a computer the final output you want, and it takes a model and tweaks it bit by bit until it reaches maximum efficiency. That's how airplane wings are built -- next time you're at the airport and you look out at an airplane, you can know it was designed by a computer simulating natural selection, not a human.
