My old computer will not connect to the internet. It is also very slow. The virus detector (McAfee) says no virus, and internet provider says not a problem there. So, I need to move files from that computer to a new computer. I have a zip drive I have never used. I need step by step instructions on how to do this. Thanks.
Answer
The ZIP drive's software has to be installed on both machines, and both machines have to have the right hardware connector to support the drive. I hope you can find the installation CD or whatever software came with the ZIP drive.
Get past that and you can just copy directories and data from the old machine to the ZIP, then from the ZIP to the new machine.
Don't expect to be able to copy software, though. Most software installations these days put important bits of data in the Registry, and the Registry isn't movable from one machine to another. You'll have to reinstall any software you want on the new machine.
Hope that helps.

How do I set up printer sharing between two computers on the same dsl connection?
JERRY P
My computer is wirelessly connected to a 2wire dsl modem to Century tel internet acess, the computer that is connected physically has a hp photosmart c5280 printer attached to it, how do I configure the two computers so I can print from the wirelessly connected computer, or is that possible? How does printer sharing work?
Answer
printer sharing is done over a network. the software to create a simple network is built into Windows XP (and earlier versions).
i'm not familiar with your hardware and so I don't know if it includes or functions as a switch ... you need a switch function to route info (print data) from one computer to the other.
