Most child psychologists I've worked with made more than $30 - $40 /yr.
That said - they also went to school for 8 years and then had to do quite a few hours of supervised work before they could take their licensure exams.
I'd recommend looking into social work. You can enter private practice with less schooling and less hours of supervision. LISW (masters level - so 6 yrs of school) make anywhere from $40 - $60+ /yr. And, with that type of degree you can work with a wider population than child psychology.
Either way you go though, it can be heavy work. You're not working with computers, or producing a product, your work is with real people and real lives. That's a big responsibility. You're also going to be hearing some horrific stories and you have to be able to maintain your boundaries about that, as well as learn how to let it all go when you leave the office. If you feel like you can do it though, it's very rewarding work and when you're actually meant to do it, and are good at it, you can really make a difference and help others.

I have been married 14 years this year. my relationship has been rough. there has been a lot of verbal, emotional and sometime confrontation abuse. mixed with some good times as well. my husband has only worked about half the time we have been together and has not had a job in 6 months. I recently met a man online who I love but made the mistake of exchanging intimate photos before I was divorced. my husband found out. and is now saying I need to stay with him and work it out or he will present the evidence in court. we also have recordings of each other being nasty. I asked him to keep that crap out of court and just be civil and decide a course of action that best suits us. but he says...no. I don't want to leave and I want you to stay so unless you do what I say and stop talking to your "boyfriend" and come back to me...then you can expect me to have relations with other women and present this in court if I so choose. I am so pissed I am being consistently neglected and controlled. does anyone know about custody battles when someone has evidence of cheating. and can I just remove the hard drive from the computer or are there other ways he can maintain records of me sharing my photos.? anyone? thanks in advance!!

Honestly, I think that this whole situation would be irrelevant in a child custody case. I know that it would be relevant in the divorce proceedings, but because this doesn't immediately affect the child then you should be fine.
To be honest, if he hasn't had a stable job in quite some time, then chances of him getting custody are slim to none.
Because he won't be able to finacially support the child, and you would.
Therefore, you should just leave him, because if he's acting like this then he is being extremely selfish and it's not about love anymore, it's about control.
And unless he actually looks through your files on the computer, or your email, he can't do anything, unless your "boyfriend" is going to give them to him, which I doubt.
So I'd delete the files completely off of the computer, and off the email.
He can't do anything about it, and considering he hasn't had a job in 6 months, he won't have any money to go and actually get the files recovered, which I doubt he could anyways.
I think you are safe, this doesn't seem like it would effect the custody part of your divorce.
