Q. I have no idea what is going on - running WinXP. . atm I'm using a USB mouse / keyboard, and it worked fine until I rebooted the computer. Now, neither of them will work on the Log In screen. However they both work at the F8 screen and during windows setup.
Is there any way for me to log on / fix this without wiping my HDD? I have a lot of valuable files on that computer. Thanks for your time.
I tried booting from XP cd and "repairing" . . but after I log on there I have no idea what to do.
Thanks for your time. . ask if you need anymore info.
I've been using the same keyboard / mouse for years, well, the same keyboard model at least.
It just happened earlier when I restarted. I've tried unplugging and plugging them in with reboots, using different USB ports, using P2 mice / keyboards . . etc
They just suddenly freeze at the log in menu, so I can't get to my desktop - if there's a way please let me know :)

Answer
Have you tried just unplugging them(mouse/keyboard) from your computer then re-plugging them back in when you boot back up? Sometimes you just need to let the PC realize what you're putting into it.
