I use a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV480 and I heard that a firewire cable would do it. Does this camcorder of mine have a firewire port? There's this port at the right side below the camera and it says " DC in". Is this the firewire port?
Let's say, I've already connected it to the computer via firewire. Is this enough? Will I be able to edit and transfer videos now?
Thank you. Hoping for complete info about this.
Answer
You may use the best software I have seen AVS Video Tools. It can convert to/from all key format, upload video or DVD directly to key portables like iPod, Sony PSP, Archos, Zen Creative, and mobiles.
It can capture video from DV or webcams, TV tuners, DVB-T, DVB-S, transfer VHS tapes to DVD, remove commercials, edit video, copy and burn DVDs and video files: AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), MP4, WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO, MPEG 1,2,4, MPG, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, H.263, H.264, RM, DVR-MS.
There is the free download link:

How do I distort video on my computer?
Nathan
My friends and I are making a youtube series which requires the distortion of a few clips. I'm talking big, heavy distortions, not just a little stretching of the video. My computer runs Windows 7 and my most basic editing tool is movie maker (but if you have a better, free recommendation feel free to post that to).
Answer
FileLab is freeware and has some great distortion effects. Drag them from the menu down to the timeline "star" section (for effects). Right-click on them in the timeline to edit them further (big distortion, little distortion, etc...)
FileLab is a freeware video editing program for just about all platforms (Mac, PC, etc...). I use it a lot to make YouTube videos. It runs in your browser using a simple plug-in download. It's also available as a free app on Facebook. It has many transition and video effects, very good title editor, and customized color correction to include brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma. If you really want to get fancy
VSDC is also freeware, but has much more advanced capabilities than FileLab, such as green screen! It's not as obvious or easy to use as FileLab, but did I already mention it has green screen (chroma key), and it's free? Also, it is capable of editing in most most popular video formats and compression schemes including high definition (HD), AVI, H.264, MP4, MKV, MTS, 3GP, WMV, QT, MP3, MPEG2 FLV, SWF. YouTube. Get it now while it's free because eventually this will go payware.
