Sims 3 Island Paradise freezing..?

Thegunner1

So fairly recently I got the Sims 3 Island Paradise expansion pack.
When I start a new Sim living in the Island Paradise map (isla paradiso), for the first in game day or so, it runs fine, but then suddenly it freezes up for around 5-10 seconds, and then is ok again for 10 seconds or so, and then it freezes again, etc etc.
Other maps are perfectly fine, no lag / freezing whatsoever.

Given that the expansion pack isn't new anymore, I'm guessing that it's something with my PC.
I tried removing just the base game, and used CCcleaner, but that didn't fix the problem.

My PC should be more than good enough to run IP on max graphics (although this problem also occurs when I set the graphics settings to lowest):

Core i7 2600k 4C/8T 3.4Ghz
16 GB ram
GTX 570
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
fairly normal 7200rpm hard disk.

If anyone has some suggestions on what to try, I would be really happy! :)

Thanks a lot!

PS:
Currently I have the expansion pack Uni life, Island paradise, and into the future (this was happening before into the future too).

I had major lag and weird freezings right after I got Island Paradise, and I thought I hadn't updated all my mods/custom content, but my problem was that the town sims had gotten stuck at various places, interrupting their route and simply messed everything up. (Some lag was also from some bugs that got fixed in a later patch, and the map is pretty huge.)
Right now I'm using the NRAAS mod that resets those stuck sims. But you can also do this manually by just typing
ResetSim *
(The star means every sim in the whole town basically, it will reset your households sims too, but if you can't find the stuck sim and don't have any mod for it then that's a good way to fix it. If you know which sim it is, just type the stuck sim(s) first and last name instead of the star.)

If you know that your computer (graphic card mostly) is powerful enough to run Sims 3 on the settings you have then the resetsim should probably solve it. And your computer seems just fine, I run everything on highest settnings with around the same stuff.

It can also be any custom content or other mod that is not compatible with your game version, expansion or mods that does not work well together.
If you got custom content installed you should try check if that can be the problem( it's usually is). If you know that your game is updated (And also your mods) you can download a program called Dashboard (Delphy's Sims 3 Dashboard). It can help you clear your thumbnails, cache and check for "bad" custom content that might conflict with your game.
Clearing thumbnails and cache once in a while it's very good, that can help solve a lot of glitches and bugs and speed up your game. You are not deleting any object or gameplay by deleting cache or thumbnails.

I will link some useful help pages on how to clear cache manually and searching for the problem, check your custom content etc.

I also recommend NRAAS mod Overwatch. It will "clean" your on-going sims game. It will reset stuck sims, cleanse the dead, clear up things and turn tvs, concert, stereos etc off so they not bug or anything. You can set the settings for the mod in-game. Usually it do the cleaning stuff every night when your sim is sleeping. It might freeze for a second or two when it does that, but everything works very smoothly for me after it.

Good luck!

Sims 3 Island Paradise lag?

A.N

I just got Island Paradise a few days ago and I was so excited to play. I made new sims and started from scratch. Immediately there is a lag in Isla Paradiso or whatever its called. Is there a fix to this? I would really like to play in the town I paid $30 for.

I saw on a discussion to delete the Scott family and it will fix the lag, but it didn't.

Any help is appreciated!

Also as Angel Konata mentioned, you might need to check that your computer (ram, graphic card) can handle the game and expansion, but if you didn't had any lag with just the base game or other expansion then I don't think that's the problem.
