I am thinking of building a computer that will be mostly used for some web browsing / playing simple games, (i.e. card games, casino games, and arcade games, etc.) I was wondering if anyone had any tips, or a link to a good tutorial site.
ps. It's for my Grandma, who would prefer the controls of a computer over that of a game console.
Answer
You can get computers cheaper then building if it is being used for as a simple net runner. Sometimes after looking at all the parts and the cost of the OS, it can run about $600+.
However, if you are like myself, you want at least something that well last.
I have been building computers for 10+ years and have found this site a great source of info for beginner builders.

Please remember these points if you do decide to build,
- use a static guard as frying a new item is never good
- take your time
- read the manuals as it can be easy to make a mistake
- shop around for the peices as there is always a good deal to be found
- get all the parts first and double check (nothing is more fustrating when building and finding out that you forgot a part and have to go out and get it)
Good Luck and have a good build
