Hello,
I tried to downgrade my o/s from VISTA to XP on my notebook Pavilion DV4 1135ei, but when i'm trying to do the same i'm getting the below error, I had checked with HP total care they are not giving me a proper solution.
Microsoft and its PC partners are going to allow Windows 7 users to downgrade not just to Windows Vista, but also to Windows XP, Microsoft officials are confirming.
PC mover is the ONLY migration utility that moves programs, files, and settings from your old PC to your new PC. Simply install PC mover on both your old and new computers and go! PC mover will determine which programs, files, and settings need to be moved, and when the transfer is complete, your new computer will have the personality and functionality of your old PC as well as all of its own reinstalled software. Works with almost any Windows operating system.
PC mover can migrate your PC across a network, Lap link USB cable, Windows Easy Transfer Cable or any type of removable media that can be read by both PCs. If your computer has multiple users, PC mover gives you the option to migrate some or all of the users at once. The security information about file ownership and access control is preserved for each user. You can even use PC mover to migrate your PC to an Intel-based Mac using
PC mover can also be used to upgrade your existing PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. PC mover® Windows 7 Upgrade Assistant⢠is a special edition of PC mover that does just this! Instead of migrating from one PC to another, many users simply desire to upgrade their existing computer to Microsoftâs newest operating system.
I had the exact same problem and I spent the whole day searching for a solution. I found one that apparently works.
You need to build a new image of the XP installation disk that contains
Those can be downloaded here : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/...
Once you have downloaded the file, extract it somewhere on your PC and make note of the location.
Then you'll need to follow this procedure to add the drivers to your original XP setup disk.

You'll need a tool called nLite to do that. Don't worry about adding sp3, you can simply add the driver (that's when you'll need to point to the folder where you extracted the file above).
At the end of the process you will have a new iso file that you need to burn. I'm using the new install CD I created as I speak and it seems to work.
Hope this helps and that it'll work for you too.
