Answer
CPA is usually a stepping stone to higher up accounting positions even if you're not doing "public accounting" in your jobs. Most controllers or high up financial/managerial/tax accounting positions require a CPA just because its a sign that you're above the entry level people.
If you want to do accounting but don't want a cpa you'll certainly still be able to find a job, but it won't be the high paying jobs you see people talk about when they mention accounting. Most big companies want people who are pursuing the cpa or are cpa eligible.
There is a high demand for accountants as well as computer science, IT jobs.
However, you were concerned about getting a CPA after school? What do you think the computer side of things has? They have even more different certificates/licenses related to different programs/databases/codes etc etc.
Both degrees are in demand right now, but both also require additional certificates or licenses to advance beyond entry level.

Answer
Not all IT jobs req high level programming or any at all. Having programming knowledge is very advisable but there are jobs such as data admins, network admins that only require minimal programming skills.
