Hello Friends
I have 2 teen agers using my computer in my absense and like many other kids, spend time on face book for hours. Want to make sure that they are doing the right things and so want to install a software that records face book and other chats. Is there any such software for a reasonable price?

I looked at some freewares, but am little concerned that it may have security issues by knowing the passwords etc.

The kind of software you are looking for are called Key Loggers, and are generally considered as viruses by most of the anti-virus solutions as because viruses also do the same process of acquiring key strokes, screen shots, URLs visited and other usage information of the target system in order to gain CREDIT CARD info, personal info and what ever of the virus makers interest and send it remotely to the virus creator.
I have tried a lot of Key Loggers and found out REFOG Keylogger is the best of all. Depending on your requirements you can either go for a free version or purchase an enterprise version.

How do I use a vnc from my computer at home into a computer somewhere else?

I am the Tech Chair in my fraternity and would like to use a vnc in order to control one of the computers in my fraternity while I'm at home for the summer. I have real vnc enterprise and windows has it's own remote desktop software, however I don't know what ip to use. (and for realvnc, it doesn't give me an option to create a username and password)

Remote Desktop in Windows works well when setup properly and securely. Going this route requires that the Windows computer you are remoting in to is a Professional version of Windows. For example you cannot remotely access a computer running Windows XP Home using Remote Desktop, but you can if it is running Windows XP Pro. If you are remotely accessing a Windows 7 computer, that computer will need to be Windows 7 Pro, Enterprise or Ultimate.
Here is an article on setting up and securing the remotely accessed computer when using Remote Desktop. It was written for XP but is still relevant if Windows 7 is in use.

Regardless if you use Remote Desktop or go with VNC, in order to connect to another Windows computer that is on an external network, port forwarding routes will need to be set in the router or firewall that is at the location where the computer is located that you are connecting to. Remote Desktop uses port 3389 by default and RealVNC defaults to 5900. So you would need to port forward those ports to the internal LAN IP of the remotely accessed system.
Once the above is completed, go to the browser of the computer you are remotely accessing and visit http://ipchicken.com/ and make a note of the public IP address that is displayed. Go to your offsite location and plug that IP address into Remote Desktop on your Windows computer. If setup properly it will bring up a log in box of the remote computer.
As an alternative you can sign up for a free logmein account. Using Logmein does not require router or firewall configuration changes. Sign up for the free account, download the agent on the computer you want to remotely access, then whenever you want to remote to it just log in to your account at Logmein.com and connect. Keep in mind the free Logmein account does not allow for remote printing or file sharing. https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/
