I am building a desktop that I will use primarily for programming and engineering (lot o' number crunching). More info: the computer will run linux/ubuntu more than likely and money isn't the critical factor, however economic efficiency is important. I was leaning towards an intel core i5 but am interested in opinions. What are the most important factors?
Answer
If money isn't a factor, then I suggest getting this

This is a really good processor too and a lot cheaper.

Intel charges way more than AMD. If you found 2 equally good processors from both of them, the Intel one would cost much more. BTW, this site is trustworthy to buy off of.

How do I install windows on my computer?

jamierunt
I recently was given a computer that has an old edition of windows. It will turn on and play games but will not go online or have that option. How would I upgrade that edition? If I need to install the newer edition is there an easier way and cheaper way to do so?
