I am using an open wifi signal that my iMac gets and it's open. Is it possible for others to hack into my computer and get my info or get things that are on my computer???

Everything you send over an open connection can be read by the owner (or anyone else) on the router! So all your usernames etc can be read just by capturing the open packets! In one demo at a hacking convention a presenter was able to get over 2000 usernames and passwords off the open system overnight!

By the way, if you are using a network without the owners permission, you are violating laws in all 50 states. Even Canada, UK, Austrailia, etc have laws about "Joining a network" without the owners permission! Those are covered by anti hacking/cracking laws! So just because I am stupid and leave my door unlocked, does not mean you are free to just come in and raid the fridge! Don't take my car either!
