I am upgrading to a new phone, and I still have over 100 pictures on my old phone (Verizon Wireless Samsung SCH-A870). How do I upload these photos to my computer. Is there any way to do it without doing it one picture at a time, thus incurring HUGE charges for all the messages?
Answer
It should say how to do this in the manual that came with the phone.
You could use a USB Data Cable.
Windows XP or Windows Vista don't come with software to recognize your phone and handle the file transfer, so you'll need a copy of DataPilot, which works with all major phone types.
Free to try: http://download.cnet.com/DataPilot/3000-2248_4-10453726.html?tag=mncol
Freeware: http://www.bestfreewaredownload.com/freeware/t-free-data-pilot-freeware-ibvzjvjx.html
Fire up DataPilot, and plug one end of the usb data cable into your phone and the other end into the usb port on your computer. DataPilot will display a list of the existing photos, ring tones, and videos on your cell phone.
Choose the folder on your PC that contains the files you want to move, select the files (or folders) and click the transfer button to copy them over to your cell phone.
You can also copy the other way, and use DataPilot to transfer photos or ring tones from your cell phone to your computer.
They have a version of DataPilot for the Mac that works the same way.
OR
You could transfer using Bluetooth, but that would be a lot more info for this section lol. If you need some basics on that, message me.
Both the USB Data Cable and Bluetooth options let you transfer photos and ring tones between your cell phone and your computer - as many times as you want and without any carrier transfer fees.

my 67 year old grandmother wants me to teach her how to work the windows computer my grandfather uses for work, because she figures that if we have so much fun with it, so can she.
what should i do? i love the woman to death, but (a) there's sort of a language barrier, and (b) i'm not sure what she'd want to do with it.
any creative ideas on what programs to get or where to start??
Answer
1. Email. She will love the fact that she can keep in touch with grandkids, family, and friends much more easily and frequently.
2. Digital photo basics. She really should take a class on this, but you can at least introduce her to the fact that she can store and restore photos on the computer.
3. Family History, some websites for more info on this are:
