I received a used Dell i5 8Gb ram Windows XP laptop downgraded from Win7 and it won't install my legal copy of wWin7 again.
I was able to put Ubuntu on it since I like that more than XP, but still want Win7 on it. I have installed Win7 on at least 15 computers in my lifetime, from Acer to HP and for some reason this Dell wont install.
It gets all the way past the installation and the FINAL restart, but when it goes to setup once the retart is done it tells me Windows 7 cannot be installed on this computer. Could it be that it is a Dell and my copy doesn't have a Dell OEM?
Any help will be appreciated, and my copy is on a USB drive (BECAUSE I used my .edu e-mail to get a huge discount on Win7 from Microsoft).

How to reinstall a operating system with out a recovery disk. If you can't find the ones that you made or the ones that came with the computer. I assumed you already tried (and failed) to use the recovery partition. This means that the next step is to call tech support, and tell them that the recovery partition doesn't work, or you can't find the recovery discs you made... and then they can SELL you a set of recovery discs.
That's just the way it works. There are two other ways use any other disk and when it is time to activate, call Microsoft on the phone with the activation window open and give them the coa or product code on the phone and they will activate and give you a number at that time.
You need the OEM installation specifically for the same version of the windows that came with your laptop. Otherwise, anything other than an OEM installation of that is the same kind that came with your laptop (Basic, Professional, etc) your product key won't work. Of course, if you choose to go that route, make sure you FIRST download all the drivers for your model laptop... else you might have trouble going on line afterwards to get the drivers. You could copy the i386 file that would make it not so hard.

How well will my computer run BF3?

My computer specs are,
Win7 64-bit Home Premium
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz 2.67GHz
6BG RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
If more info is needed please say so, otherwise can someone tell me how well my computer would be able to run BF3?

Your computer will be able to run BF3 pretty well if you customize your graphics settings to maybe medium and still receive at least 45-70fps
