ok so i have installed ubuntu on my computer and now i have no clue on how to uninstall it from my computer. when i put the windows 7 home preium instalation disk in and restart my computer and restart it it starts up and says starting up windows and then it just stops. please can someone help me. even if i have to format my computer i will.
i tried to go to that formating thing in disk utility but it gives me an error saying One or more partitions are busy on /dev/sda
yes. but then it goes to starting up windows for some reason and then it just stays on that screen

Is it actually booting from the Windows 7 disc i.e. do you get the message "Press any key to boot from cd" ?

I bought a used computer a few years ago with Ubuntu Linux installed, thinking I could easily format and install XP.
After much trial and error, the only way I was able to do it was to overwrite the drive first, I used Acronis drive Cleanser which I had to buy.
You could make a boot disc of Dariks boot and nuke (freeware) which will do the same job.
You need to burn the iso file using imgburn (freeware) to make it bootable.
Dariks boot and nuke download.

Sabayon vs Ubuntu?

I'm a vista user, running windows home premium 32 bit
i'm considering linux, mainly because on online forums, linux users are the only ones who don't degenerate into drooling idiots (emphasis on idiots. seriously, most mac and pc users are complete retards - i mean that in the unkindest way possible )
anyway, i've never used linux but i've heard a few thing about it.
how do i go about installing trying it on my sytem for a few days? i don't know which to try, sabayon or ubuntu, mainly because i don't really know anything about linux. help me decide.

oh yeah, what is beryl. some guy i talked to who told me to download sabayon also mentioned beryl. what is it and what does it do?

www.google.com "yourcomputer sabayon" will give you info about real users' experiences with your computer and the two distros you are considering. Using a liveDVD rather than installing will be the least risky way to testing them both out. Both distros are available as liveDVDs
You definitely should start with Ubuntu. I just installed Sabayon (replacing 64bit Ubuntu - whilst awaiting the next ubuntu release in a couple of weeks). The install was fairly straight forward, the things that don't work for me out of the box on Ubuntu seem to not work under Sabayon - no sound, haven't checked wireless, but I expect no wireless - a normal situiation.
Definitely you should start with Ubuntu - Sabayon is not as user-friendly in its layout (admittedly, I know Ubuntu but all the same its menus are laid out more clearly than Sabayon). I had to go to their website to find out how to update software - and that is not a task to be undertaken lightly! It is a cinch to do under Ubuntu.

I am going to stick with Sabayon for a bit - I tried to install Gentoo with no success, so I have found a way indirectly through Sabayon. If I can get the sound working, and figure out the process for adding software (the Gentoo way) and modifying things, I may stick with it. But it is only a couple of weeks away to the next release of Ubuntu, and Arch linux has also been calling to me. So, things might change, or I may stick with it for a while.
