Information Systems Career?

Steven

Does anyone have a job, internship, career or anything like that in this field? Can you tell me what kind of stuff you do? I'm considering getting a degree in something lke computer science and then getting a Masters in Management Information Systems.

I know that's a broad field but I'm trying to get some more information before I pursue it. Any insight is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Answer
Computer Engineering would put you at the top of Information Systems, you would do systems design and complex, multi-facility project management. You can get started more quickly with an A+ certification and start at the ground level, but the ceiling for your career is lower. At the lower levels you do end-user support, installing software and hardware, setting up networks under management supervision. This field (at all levels) is growing and will remain in demand so whatever your capacity (financial and skill-wise), it's good to explore if you have the interest. Of course a Bachelors or even Masters in Computer Engineering would set you up to have a solid, high-paying lifelong career. Even an A+ will keep you employed for life, albeit at a lower pay scale.

Does a career in Computer Information Systems require heavy math skills?

If so how intensive?

Answer
Yes Computer Informaton jobs required you to have some good math skills

You should speak to your teacher, counselor, or maybe contact someone at the Department of Labor or Education and etc. to see if they could give you any advice/information on which classes/course you should be taking to prepare yourself for this career and occupation

There are also many community (2 year) colleges that offer Associates Degrees or certificates in Computer Information Systems and etc.

After you graduate with a Associate Degree you can then transfer your college credits to a 4-year college

A website you might find to be helpful is the one at the US Bureau of Labor Statistics which has lots of information for careers such as the nature of the work, educational and training requirements, wages, estimated job outlook, and etc.

They also include a list of organizations that can provide more information about these careers

Various Professional, Management and etc. careers and related occupations

Hopefully by looking at this information this would give you a better idea about which career path to take and find out what kind of training and education you would need to prepare yourself for these careers

You also can contact their office at the above website to see if they have any other information and resources for the career that you are interested in

Good luck and I hope this will help
