What is it, where can I find what mine is, how can I find out what other people's is, is it ok to tell people my IP address, can someone find out my IP and then send me a virus or something like that? Any other info about IP addresses is appreciated. Thx!

An IP address is like a computer's (or network's) virtual address, each IP is unique. you can find out what yours is by going to showmemyip.org (you can find your internal network IP by start>run>cmd>type in "ipconfig"). You can find out someone else's IP by connecting to their computer and using the netstat command in command prompt. there really is no need to tell someone your IP address, you shouldn't it will just make you a target. Yes someone can find out your IP address if you make a connection to them or anything where they have access to (ex. websites store IP addresses of visitors). They can send you a virus either by finding an open, vulnerable port or by sending you something that has to be accepted.

hi ther i would like some info on any program that changes your ip address for free or any program for changing your ip address and i would also like some disadvantages on doing this thanks ian

There is not any IP address changer that change IP address.
What i know that there are 3 methods.
1) Try to change IP address by using steps from http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/change-ip-address.shtml
Sometime will works and sometime not. It depend on your ISP and what for IP address is assigned to your machine. Static or dynamic!
2) By using anonymous proxy server where other side will see that request come from proxy server and not your IP address. Good site to learn more about proxies is definitive http://www.proxyblind.org
3) By calling your ISP and give them good reason why you would like to change IP address. Remember always give them that you have some tech. issue with your computer.
