Scam, remote take over of computer, am I at risk?

Paul

I had an issue with my router and my ISP suggested I contact the manufacturer directly. Went on google and contacted what I thought was netgear. The person had me install team viewer, on Mac went into my terminal, ran the a netstat command, and whois they looked at the info there. They also looked at my network settings. When looking at my setteings they told me I had a bunch of in authorized connections to my computer and I should pay a fee to close them. At which point I realized this was bull, and hung up. They know my name, occupation, IP address, name of my MacBook. How much at risk am I of identity theft, and financial threats. I have a firewall on, and I'm now going through my router. I called my ISP and had them change my IP address as well. Thanks In advance.

Answer
Uninstall Team viewer.
You need to see someone who knows what they are doing because the people who told you to install Team viewer could have installed key-logging software etc etc etc on your computer without you knowing, Seriously.

My computers history?

Jake P

I want to know if my computer keeps track of what i do on it. not on the internet i already know how to get to my internet history. But i want to know if it keeps track of ofline stuff, like if i was typing a word document at this time or if i was watching a video at this time or if i were playing a video game at this time etc,,, and if it does how do i view and delete that history?

Answer
Your index.dat files keep track of your online history. If you are log into your google or msn mail account they will record everywhere you go online. The chat application such as skype, msn and other keep track of your history. The event viewer keeps track of everything that happens on your computer. The clipboard keeps track of copied info. Temp files keep net data and downloads when you off line. It goes on.
Hope this helps!
