Why does my computer freeze when I attempt to record the screen?

The question is pretty straight forward. Every time I try to record my computer screen with a program like Camtasia or Hypercam, after around 20 seconds, it completely locks up. After it starts running slightly faster, I can move my cursor(it glitches across the screen), and pause the recording.
While recording, my processor never went above 76%, and my phys. Memory never went above 54%.
Does anyone have any idea why these programs are making my computer lock up(I have the fps at 26-30 on average)?

Computer freezing is caused by errors in the Windows registry. When there are errors in the registry your computer is unable to properly communicate information. Trojans and Viruses can do things to damage the registry or use the registry to allow themselves to gain access to areas of the computer.

But that's not always how they do their damage. There is malware out there that avoids the registry by attacking programs in active memory and attaching themselves to it negating the need to alter the registry. This is why sometimes doing a system restore to an earlier date sometimes doesn't clear the problem.

Anything Windows based (going all the way back to Windows 95) has a registry. Only operating systems that are Unix-like (Linux, BSD, MacOS) run without Registries.

And those OS's are not attacked as often by malware or viruses. There are a few, but we're talking a handful versus hundreds of thousands of viruses and malware and their variants.
