I want to go into network security . I don't understand the difference between (Computer Information Systems), and computer science sorry lol how do they differ from one another ?
Answer
At my University, Computer Science is more hardware and programming based, using higher level algorithms, assembly language, and even computer microarchitecture.
Software and Information Systems (or CIS in your case) is more application based, such as networking, software engineering, and utilizing systems rather than the computers. If you want to do Network Security, I recommend Computer Information Systems.

What kind of work can I do with a degree in Computer Information Systems?

Queen of A
I am currently a sophomore in college pursuing a BS degree in Computer Information Systems. I've always wanted to be a computer technician or someone who deals with computers on a daily basis. Will I be able to fix computers or work with them as a career with a degree in Computer Information Systems?
Answer
CIS is not ordinarily a mechanical curriculum teaching computer repair. Check with your advisor, and look at your catalog. Make sure the advisor is knowledgeable enough to give you advice---some are not.
