Help! I have no idea what is wrong with my computer. I use Windows Vista Home Premium. Today, I just logged on but all of a sudden, the process of loading the account was longer than usual and said, "Preparing your desktop". When I was finally logged on, all my desktop icons were gone and was replaced by the basic: Recycle Bin, Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, and iTunes. My background wallpaper also became the default picture and my sidebar gadgets were all screwed up as well as the other customizations. Lastly, this thing popped up saying, "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off." Anyone know how to restore my original profile settings exactly the way it was?

this happens at times when files get corrupt during shutdown
also viruses can do this i'd start with a system restore abck say 3-5 days longer if nothing that current
had you loaded any new hardware or software on to the computer?? possible conflict with either of thoose

Why is my computer so slow?

I just changed from an old win xp to a vista. I'm very happy with the quality of picture and other new gadgets I have on it, but sometimes it runs sooooo slooooow! sometimes freezing and ctrl+alt+del won't even work! I only have 512ram write now and have ordered another 512. Is that my problem, the memory? I hear vista is a memory hog. I run virus scans often. I know vista is fairly new, shouldn't it be faster?
